Krimptonite 2025 is officially underway and Round 1 is already live at Climbing Hut Shrewsbury. If you haven’t joined in yet, there’s still time to take part, log your scores and enjoy everything this summer climbing comp has to offer.

This league isn’t just for seasoned climbers. It’s designed for everyone, whether you’re working on your first blocs or chasing your next grade. Expect fresh routes, a welcoming atmosphere and plenty of time to project and improve.

Round 1 runs until 6th June, so there is still time to get involved.

What Is Krimptonite?

Krimptonite is Climbing Hut’s summer league, designed to bring the climbing community together over four rounds of friendly competition. It takes place across both our Shrewsbury and Ellesmere Port centres, finishing with a grand final in September.

Each round features a full reset with climbs covering all grades. You can turn up anytime during the round, have a go at the problems, track your progress and revisit climbs to boost your score.

Here are the key dates:

Round 1: 16th May to 6th June at Shrewsbury

Round 2: 13th June to 4th July at Ellesmere Port

Round 3: 11th July to 1st August at Shrewsbury

Round 4: 8th August to 29th August at Ellesmere Port

Grand Final: 20th September at Ellesmere Port

You don’t need to attend every round to be in with a chance. Your top three scores will count towards the overall leaderboard. The top six climbers in each category will be invited to compete in the final, where over £2,000 in prizes will be up for grabs.

A Comp for Everyone

Krimptonite is open to all climbers. Whether you’re new to the sport or a long-time regular, this is a relaxed and inclusive comp where the focus is on having fun and pushing your own limits.

We’ve updated the categories this year to make it even more accessible. Both our Mountain Goat and Veteran groups now include male and female divisions, alongside the Open category. Everyone is welcome to join and there is a place for all abilities.

No matter your experience, you’ll find climbs to suit your level and plenty of friendly faces to cheer you on.

How Scoring Works

Each top earns 10 points, no matter how many attempts you take. If you flash the problem, you’ll receive an extra 3 points.

We use the Griptonite app to track scores and leaderboards. For anyone without the app, paper scorecards are also available.

Krimptonite is a project-style competition. You have several weeks to try climbs, return to them, and improve your score throughout each round. It’s all about persistence and enjoying the process.

Entry, Offers and Giving Back

Entry is £5 per round and 50 percent of that goes directly to Climbers Against Cancer. This means that every entry supports a good cause and helps make a difference in our wider community.

We’re also offering a special early bird deal. Sign up for all four rounds for just £15 if you register before 6th June. This offer is only available during Round 1 and can be purchased online or in the gym.

Join In Before It’s Too Late

Round 1 is live until 6th June, so this is the perfect time to get involved. You can start logging scores straight away and still make the most of the early bird offer.

If you want to build confidence before the next round, you can check out our coaching sessions and classes to help prepare and improve your climbing.

Come and be part of it this summer. We’ll see you at Climbing Hut.
